Prepare Yourself For Moving
The date has finally been set for moving! The Removal Company has been confimed to escort you and your belongings to your new home.
*Remember!
They will be charging you by the hour, so the name of the game is to be organised, so get prepared as soon as possible.
Here are a few pointers to help you.
1/ Start packing the items that you can live without
a) C.D’s
b) Books
c) Candles
d) Toys
2/ Ask neighbours, family and friends to keep their old newspapers,
When packing items like ornaments and plates, newspaper can become very useful.
3/ Allocate one room that can be used to place the box’s etc.
This helps you focus on the other items needed to be packed and will leave other rooms tidy.
4/ When packing items colour co-ordinate the box’s with stickers or labels
This will be a great help when unloading at the new house, Colours or labels will remind you what is in the box’s and which room the removal men should put them.
5/ Arrange care for your children and pets
pets and children alike can become distressed on the day with all the coming and going, to allow not only them, but also yourself a stress free day, allow family or friends to take them for the day.
6/ To call your electricity & gas supplier, council tax, t.v., telephone company etc informing them of your moving date.
All of the above will be the last thing on your mind especially on the day of the move, but it will ensure you do not get charged extra on your bills.
7/ Re-directing your post.
This should be done well in advance, the post office will ask for your completion date and giving enough time, it will ensure a smooth transfer over to your new address.
8/ Always keep one box closeby on the day
We highly recommend that this box include’s tea, coffee, kettle and a few treats, after a long day loading and unloading you will be desperate for a cuppa.
Good Luck!!
